It's A Zoo Out There!

Have you seen the Brevard Zoo lately? It's another fun spot in Brevard County, Florida! It's right in the heart of Suntree/Viera in Brevard County, Florida just east of I-95 exit 191 at 8225 Wickham Road.
The mission of the Brevard Zoo is “Wildlife Conservation through Education and Participation.” The Zoo boasts "The World's Largest Volunteer Community Build." Over 16,000 people of all ages joined forces to help build the Zoo in the spring of 1992 and the Brevard Zoo opened it's doors to the public in 1994

The Brevard Zoo is currently divided into five different exhibits: Expedition Africa, La Selva, Austral/Asia, Wild Florida and Paws On Play which is an area of the zoo for children to have "paws on". A portion of Paws On Play is currently closed until February 2009 but to compensate, a new indoor play area has been created called Wildlife Detective Training Academy. Expedition Africa is the area where the giraffes are housed and you can view the giraffes anytime you wish by accessing one of Brevard's live web cams.
The Brevard Zoo also offers many events throughout each month of the year. A local favorite is "Boo At The Zoo" held in October every year. Families and enjoy games and crafts, trick-or-treating, a costume contest, and new for the older kids, the Scare Zone this year. This year’s Boo At The Zoo is scheduled for October 17-19 and 24-26.
Daily Events at the zoo include feeding the giraffes, lorikeets, river otters, vultures, the Cape to Cairo Express train ride, alligator and crocodile feeding, kayaking, behind the scenes tours and shopping in the Panther's Paws gift shop. You can also purchase meals, snacks and refreshments at the Flamingo Cafe.

Book a private party using the zoo's amenities and the Nyami Nyami River Lodge which can occupy up to 300 people. Space Coast Living Magazine June 2008 edition voted the Brevard Zoo as the best place to have a birthday.
You can become a member of the Brevard Zoo which will also include FREE OR REDUCED admission to over 140 zoos & aquariums nationwide.
Ticket prices for entrance to the zoo are located on the Brevard Zoo's website.
