I'm writing today from my back porch. There is a gentle breeze rustling the palms, the temperature is about 71 degrees, no humidity, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining brightly and it's MID-MARCH! Can you guess where I am? I am in beautiful , sunny, Brevard County Florida - where I also reside.
In my thoughts as I enjoy the afternoon comes the question, "Wouldn't it be fun to live on the beach?" So...out of curiosity, I checked the MLS listings for condos on the beach in Satellite Beach, Indian Harbour Beach and Indialantic. I searched prices between $99,000-$200,000. I was amazed to find that 19 properties turned up in the results! These were direct OCEAN FRONT condos. The best deal that I saw was a property located in a condo appropriately called "Sand Castles" for only $97,000. WOW! Someone could actually live on the beach for that price. If I didn't have two big Golden Retrievers I would be packing my bags now! Most condos have a weight limit on pets and Sand Castles was no exception. My two girls definitely could not pass for 30 pounds!
The Florida Association of Realtors (FAR) experts say the best time to buy in Florida is right now. The time is right. Home sales volumes are rising again – a clear signal that today’s “buyers market” may be changing soon. In fourth quarter 2008, statewide sales of existing single-family homes were up 13 percent compared to the same period last year, according to FAR statistics.
